AmmoDyn 12 Gauge 1-1/8oz 2.75" Rifled Slug High-Brass

A: No. The "rifling" is angled ribs on the outside of the slug — they exist so the slug compresses safely through a choke, not to impart spin. A rifled slug stabilizes aerodynamically: mass concentrated forward, drag keeps it nose-first. Smoothbore is what it's built for. If you have a rifled slug barrel, use sabot ammo instead.

A: Cylinder, improved cylinder, or modified — yes. Soft lead compresses down cleanly. Don't fire slugs through full or extra-full, or through aftermarket turkey/waterfowl chokes unless the maker specifically clears it. IC is the sweet spot for safety and accuracy.

A: Hunting rule of thumb: 75 yards with iron sights, 100 with an optic and a barrel that shoots slugs well. This load leaves at 1,444 fps but drops fast because the projectile has almost no ballistic coefficient. Zero at 50, hold appropriately at 75, don't stretch it past 100 — reach for a rifle.

A: .308 Win runs 150 grains. .45-70 runs about 400. This slug is heavier than both, and at .72 caliber it's way wider. Slower than a rifle bullet, but mass makes up for it at close range — which is why slugs still work more than a century after they were invented.

A: Almost certainly not, and the offset can be substantial. Slugs frequently print several inches from where the same gun centers a shot pattern. Sight in with the exact slug load you'll carry, at the distance you'll actually shoot. This is why you buy slugs in quantity.
